It’s Not All Mary Poppins

Lifestyle Accessories

The Ottawa Citizen (Saturday, Sept. 10) quotes the Calgary Herald:

In a recent interview, Holt [Renfrew’s] president, Caryn Lerner, noted the upscale retailer is back in kids’ clothing because, “Kids are becoming accessories, and I don’t mean that in a negative way, but they are a reflection of their parents.”

Children as mere additions to one’s lifestyle, like Gucci handbags, or Prada wallets? Good grief. Let’s hope not.

The Herald is touching in its naivete. It’s been that way for some while now: Holt Renfrew is merely hopping on a very lucrative bandwagon.
