It’s Not All Mary Poppins

Hats

The view from my front porch as we prepare to jaunt park-ward. Note the stylish fake Burberry hats – a mere $2.00 apiece.

We passed someone wearing what appeared to be the real thing today – he was of the right age, with an air of rumpled affluence. George spotted him instantly. “Hey! He has a hat just like mine!” I’m sure the older gent was thrilled to be comrades by association with little Mr. Dollar-Store hat.

Update: It occurs to me I could tell you the names of the backs of the heads! From left to right, they are Arthur, Zach, Darcy, and George.

It’s Okay

Arthur, wriggling on the bench at snack time, sends a box and a book tumbling to the floor. He peers over the end of the bench at his handiwork.

“It’s okay,” Arthur reassures me. “No one will trip over them. We can just step around them.”

“It’s okay,” I assure Arthur, “we won’t have to, because you’re going to pick them up now.”

“Oh. I can do that, too!”

Yes, indeed.
