Book binge check-in #2
Hmmm… This bingeing this is not all I’d hoped it would be this year. I’ve gotten through another two or three books, and … I have yet to read one that I enjoyed, unconditionally, from start to finish. This week’s selection were two “meh’s”, and an “I think this woman is unhinged.” (The main character, or possibly the author. I’m not sure.)
I hope yours is going better!
Binge is occurring here. But it’s lame–I’m spending a lot of time on graphic novels and nonfiction. I need to bite down on somehting good. Soon.
I’m not part of the binge because I’m working on the Philip Pullman trilogy I got for Christmas. At about 600 pages per book, I won’t be reading anything else till next Christmas. Even my magazines are hopelessly ignored. I do recommend the books however- The Golden Compass as a movie doesn’t even compare.
Slow going. If I could keep myself away from the computer, it would help :-). I’m hoping to get some book time in tomorrow; my current read goes quickly when I make time for it (or it’s not after I get into bed any my eyes start closing).
I finished a book this week with an unhinged main character too. It was interesting, but I’m not sure how much I actually liked it.
I’ve got sidetracked into reading the books on the shortlist for a local children’s book award. So far every one has been at least good and most are great, and I’ve really enjoyed them – despite the fact that they all seem to be about death, not the most cheerful of subjects.
Definitely going to read something ‘grown up’ this week.
It’s going well – except that I’ve been getting up late because I wake early and start reading…
good that you reminded me… need to upload my list… finished two: The Red Queen and Some Lie & Some Die. But its going very meh wrt the speed…
I’m doing much better now that I started reading several books at once. I was having serious issues with getting through The Feminine Mystique.
I’ve gotten side tracked with my gardening and find I’m reading almost entirely vegetable gardening books. Not bad to do, just not really the typical “read”. Not so much with the novels right now – but I’m trying!
I’ve gotten stuck at only one book read. Meh. It has not been very binge-like. I’m comforting myself with the knowledge that I am going on vacation on the 30th and I WILL be reading books on vaca. One week, eight or nine books, a laptop, a hot tub and no child. Heavenly… especially since I know that the boy will be being spoiled rotten by his grandmother and aunt while we’re gone. đŸ™‚
I’m on to my fourth book now. Which means I’ve already done better than last year…now it’s just a race to see how much better I do.
I hope you find something that you really enjoy Mary.
I’ve finished three but haven’t had time to blog about them–“Certain Girls” by Jennifer Weiner (okay), “Remember Me?” by Sophie Kinsella (predictable, but enjoyable), and “A Prisoner of Birth” by Jeffrey Archer (who I LOVE, and the book was not a disappointment).
And now I have to stop reading for fun and read for my class, which is not in any sense of the word “fun.”
Lar: I finished “Not a Penny More, Not a Penny Less” by Jeffrey Archer. I LOVE his stuff.
The Book Binge is saving my sanity! Thank God for books!
hey,
im done with 20..and dont think is gonna do more til the deadline…so thats it i guess..the list is in my blog pane..do u want me to cite it here?
AS this being my first year in the book Binge I am doing alright. I am surprised that my list isn’t longer than it is. Hopefully I can get in one of two more books before the challenge ends
