It’s Not All Mary Poppins

Sweet mysteries of plumbing

down-the-drain“Baa, baa, black sheep,
Have you any wool?”
“Yes, sir; yes, sir,
Three bags full.
One for the master
and one for the dame,
and one for the little boy
who lives down the lane…”

Anna bursts into laughter.
“Silly Mary! Not the lane, the drain!”

Well then. Shows you what I know.

  1. I’d be afraid of taking a bath… what if he suddenly wanted to stick his hand out?!

Kind of creepy, isn’t it? Maybe the song’s a playful expression of a genuine fear of hers?

  2. My 2 yr old Bella tells me that it’s “one for the little boy who lives in the den”. Aren’t toddler-isms great?!?

They are! You know, I really should start keeping a list — if I’d started when my kids were little, what with all the daycare years since, I’d have a small book by now. Are you writing yours down? Do it! You think you couldn’t possibly forget… but you will!
