It’s Not All Mary Poppins

Yeah, that’s about right

I am the type of person who does quizzes in magazines and answers surveys. I like lists, I like boxes to tick and ideas to think about. Knowing this, a friend sent me a link to a personality test. Whee! Questions to answer! Lists to read! My opinion solicited!!

I did it, of course. Because that’s what I do.

Then I looked at the results, thought of the ongoing project that is Daniel, and nodded my head. Several times.

There were some aspects to my description that don’t apply to me. I don’t think I’m any more hurt by rejection than most people, and criticism I can take in stride, particularly if it’s constructive. I don’t think I’m “dogged” at all. In fact, I’d like a little more of that, really!

But when it comes to how I feel about conflict? Yup, yup, yup. And problem-solving, creativity? Uh-huh. Pretty much everything else there is me.

Harmony-Seeking Idealist? Not too far off!

If you try the test, let me know which one you are!

  1. Hmph I found that frustrating; I needed more nuanced options, because I found myself saying “yes… no… yes… no…” as I went down each list and about 50% of both applied to me! In the end it gave me The Analytical Thinker, which rings about 50% true. Bah.

Laughing. Poor you! There was only one set that wasn’t immediately obvious to me, but when I ticked down each list to make a detailed comparison, I discovered I’d chosen 7 of one and only 4 of the other. Too bad you were disappointed, though! Everyone else I know who’s done it has been quite pleased with both its simplicity and its accuracy!

  2. Interesting test. Like you, not all points were completely accurate but as a Dreamy Idealist, I’m apparently not bogged down so much by details as I’m a big picture kind of person. 😉 And yes, I agree that’s a good fit.

  3. I haven’t done this test in awhile, but I like it! I do a lot of personality testing/Myers Briggs type things in my classroom. It is always a huge hit with the students!!

  4. Sensitive Doer…but there was one category where -really – BOTH apply!

  5. I got Analytic Thinker but like May I had several blocks where I was 50/50 for the fit.

  6. Nope, couldn’t finish it. I don’t like questionnaires much anyway, largely because I often don’t fit any of the answers. I think the nub is that I don’t care to be categorised – and I’m sure there’s a category for that!

  7. Sensitive Doer – I share some of May’s frustrations, but overall, I think a pretty good test. Thank you for sharing!

  8. I got “Energetic Doer,” but I agree that when deciding which category to pick, I often found myself on the fence and just decided to go with what seemed to have more traits I agreed with. I often find that for example, when it comes to something like “introvert” vs “extrovert,” it depends on the circumstances.
